Speakers and Topics:

Roger J. Wise, D.D.S.
Problem Based Problem Based Adult Orthodontics The Practical Approach

Orthodontic treatment planning for healthy or periodontally compromised adults can be challenging. This lecture will
demonstrate individualized orthodontic treatment planning while understanding recent advances in contemporary periodontal, implant and restorative treatment modalities. The practitioner will learn how to establish stable, esthetic and functional outcomes with less treatment time.

Dr. Wise is a former faculty member and lecturer of the Department of Orthodontics and Periodontics at Harvard School
of Dental Medicine and frequent lecturer at the Departments of Periodontics, Orthodontics and Prosthodontics at Tufts University. He has presented over 200 lectures on Adult Orthodontics and the Interrelationship of Periodontics, Orthodontics and Restorative Dentistry, written four textbook chapters, and has authored numerous papers in refereed journals. He practices Periodontics, Adult Orthodontics and Implantology in Swampscott and Boston, Massachusetts.

Colin Richman, D.M.D., B.D.S., L.D.S., R.C.S., H.D.D
Interdisciplinary Treatment, Facilitated by Periodontally Accelerated Orthodontics (PAO), In achieving Complex and
Comprehensive Dental Care. 7 year experiences.

Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics, (PAOO), is an emerging technology that combines Regenerative Periodontal Therapy with Orthodontic therapy. This lecture will show practitioners how to minimize potential risk factors associated with orthodontic therapy for adults with periodontitis and/or gingival recession while ensuring an enhanced muco-gingival complex, favorably positioned teeth and less apical resorption. In addition, the practitioner will find patients are more willing to accept complex and comprehensive dental care as this procedure also allows for a reduced orthodontic treatment time of six to nine months with greater stability post treatment.

Dr. Richman is a former faculty member of Emory University School of Dentistry. He has maintained a private practice limited to Periodontics and Implant dentistry for the past 27 years. Dr. Richman is actively involved in Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (PAOO), and has been described as a pioneer in the emerging technology of PAOO. Dr. Richman has delivered over 200 continuing education programs in the US and abroad. He is the Director of the Seattle Study Club of Atlanta, a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, and an Honorable Fellow of the Georgia Dental Association.

Antonino Secchi, D.M.D., M.S.
Treatment Mechanics Considerations for the Adult Periodontically Compromised

This one-hour presentation will review some important considerations when treating adult patients that are periodontically
involved. Methods to establish achievable treatment goals as well as to implement an efficient system of mechanics will be discussed. Clinical cases will be used to illustrate and review concepts such as the anterior bite plane, light forces, TADs, leveling the bone and occlusal adjustments.

Dr. Secchi is Clinical Assistant Professor and Former Clinical Director of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of
Pennsylvania. Dr. Secchi received his DMD, Certificate in Orthodontics, and a Master of Science in Oral Biology from the
University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Secchi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. At the University of Pennsylvania, he has developed and implemented courses on Orthodontic Treatment Mechanics, Straight Wire Appliance Systems and Functional Occlusion in Orthodontics for postdoctoral orthodontic residents. His passion for clinical orthodontics and commitment to education have made him a solicited lecturer at a National and International level. In addition, he maintains an active orthodontic practice in Philadelphia and Devon, PA.
